At IMPACT, we aim to reduce teen alcohol, marijuana and prescription drug use in Oak Park and River Forest, Illinois. Below, you will find links to articles, studies and podcasts to provide your family with information and resources to help you—and us—have an impact.

TEEN RESOURCES

Above the Influence - Above the Influence continues to be inspired by what teens have said about their lives, and how they deal with the influences that shape their decisions. Every teen’s life is filled with pressure, some of it good, some of it bad. Above the Influence's goal is to help teens stand up to negative pressures, or influences. The more aware you are of the influences around you, the better prepared you will be to face them, including the pressure to use drugs and alcohol.

Too Smart to Start - Too Smart To Start is a public education initiative sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Through this initiative, SAMHSA provides research-based strategies and materials to professionals and volunteers at the community level to help them conduct an underage alcohol use prevention program. The materials are designed to educate youth about the harms of alcohol use and to support parents and caregivers as they participate in their children’s activities.

The Cool Spots - Games, quizzes, animation and graphics explain the risks of underage drinking and ways to resist peer pressure.
